Why I Love This Recipe

What makes my Matcha Cold Foam drink so great is it combines the creamy richness of my homemade Iced Matcha Latte with a delightful matcha-infused Sea Salt Cream, inspired by the drinks found at Starbucks and my own Sea Salt Foam Iced Green Tea and Sea Salt Matcha Latte creations! But what really sets this recipe apart is the ease of preparation! I can whip up the matcha cold foam in advance, making it incredibly convenient whenever I’m craving a refreshing midday drink!

Crafted with real matcha powder, this drink captures the earthy essence of matcha complemented by the creamy texture and slightly sweet flavor of the foam. It’s perfect for anyone looking for a quick, satisfying pick-me-up that’s both easy to make and bursting with authentic matcha flavor, all in just a few minutes! If you’re ready to indulge in a taste of cafe-quality bliss right in your own kitchen, this recipe is sure to become your go-to favorite!

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • Matcha Powder – green tea leaves that have been ground into a powder. I recommend using culinary grade Matcha Powder for the best taste price ratio, but you can use ceremonial grade premium matcha if preferred.
  • Hot Water – roughly 175F or 80C, the ideal temperature for whisking matcha.
  • Sweetener – use your preferred sweetener.
  • Milk – can also use your choice of milk or milk alternative. Coconut milk, almond milk, soy milk, oat milk etc for a dairy-free option.
  • Heavy Cream – heavy whipping cream or double cream known in other parts of the world. Used as the base for the matcha foam.

🍵 Matcha Note

For this recipe, I recommend using Culinary Grade Matcha. It offers great taste at a more affordable price than ceremonial matcha.

Essential Kitchen Equipment

Directions

Step 1 In a mixing bowl, combine heavy cream, matcha powder, and sweetener. Use a frother or a hand mixer on high speed until it reaches a thick and frothy consistency with soft peaks, typically taking about 30-45 seconds.

🌀 Mixing Pro Tip

Use a mixing bowl that will allow the frother to fully submerge in the liquid, which helps to avoid splashes. The foam is ready once you lift the mixer and notice Peaks Formed in the mixture.

Step 2 Add matcha powder, sweetener, and hot water to a cup. Then, use a matcha whisk or bamboo whisk to whisk until the liquid transforms into a rich dark green froth, ensuring a smooth texture with no clumps.

🍵 Serving Pro Tip

Sip the matcha and savor matcha cold foam Without Mixing them together. By doing so, you’ll fully appreciate the delightful layers of flavor in every sip.

Recipe Variations

You can easily create different boba shop-inspired drinks using this cream foam base. Try replacing matcha with sea salt and topped on top of tea to make my Sea Salt Foam Iced Green Tea. For a coffee twist, add the foam to a coffee base to create my Taiwanese Sea Salt Coffee. These variations offer a refreshing and creamy experience to different style drinks!
