  • Hot Water – water brought to soft boil, around 200F.
  • Tea – your preferred Jasmine, Oolong, or Black Loose Leaf Tea. Tea bag will work too.
  • Sweetener use your preferred sweetener.
  • Cream Cheese – blocks and at room temperature.
  • Matcha Powder – green tea leaves that have been ground into a powder. Culinary grade Matcha Powder will work for this recipe but you can also use ceremonial grade premium matcha if preferred. 
  • Salt sea salt preferred.
  • Half and Half – a blend of half heavy cream and half milk. Can be purchased at grocery stores.
  • Heavy Cream – use whipping cream or heavy cream. Double cream if in the UK.

Additional Add Ins

Enhance your tea experience by adding some Boba to your drink. Easily found at most Chinese grocery stores, these ready-made boba pearls can be boiled in water and added to the bottom of your cup.

Step 1 Start by adding cream cheese and sweetened into a bowl and whisk with a hand or stand mixer. Then add matcha powder, sea salt, half and half and heavy cream and continue to mix until thick and frothy consistency with stiff peaks are formed.

The cheese foam is ready once you lift the mixer and notice Peaks Formed in the mixture. This visual cue indicates the perfect consistency for achieving a smooth and creamy foam texture.

Step 2 Brew your favorite oolong, jasmine, or black tea and mix in sweetener, ice and half n half. Spoon the matcha milk foam mixture on top and serve.

  • 12 oz Hot Water
  • 2 tsp Jasmine, Oolong, Black Loose Leaf Tea
  • 5-7 Cubes Ice
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Sweetener your preferred sweetener
  • 2 tbsp Half n Half

Matcha Foam Cream Cheese

  • 1 1/2 oz Cream Cheese room temperature
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Sweetener your preferred sweetener
  • 1 tsp Matcha Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Sea Salt
  • 1/4 Cup Half and Half
  • 1/4 Cup Whipping Cream

Instructions

  • Gather all the ingredients.
    Ingredients to make matcha cheese foam milk tea on the countertop.
  • In a medium mixing bowl, add sweetener and cream cheese. Beat on high until smooth and creamy. About 1 minute with a hand mixer. Next add matcha powder, sea salt, half and half and heavy whipping cream to the mixing bowl and beat until thick and frothy but still slightly runny. About 2-3 minutes with a hand mixer.

  • Put oolong, jasmine or black tea Leaves in the teapot, and pour in boiling water. Let steep for 3-5 minutes. The longer you steep the stronger and bolder the tea will be.

  • Once brewed, transfer the tea into a serving cup. Add in sweetener, ice, half n half and mix well until tea is cold. Spoon whipped matcha foam on top and enjoy!
