🍵 Matcha Note
For this recipe, I recommend using Culinary Grade Matcha. It offers great taste at a more affordable price than ceremonial matcha.
Essential Kitchen Equipment
Directions
☑ Before Getting Started
Ensure your Cream Cheese is at Room Temperature before mixing to achieve a smooth and creamy foam texture.
Step 1 Start by adding cream cheese and sweetened into a bowl and whisk with a hand or stand mixer. Then add matcha powder, sea salt, half and half and heavy cream and continue to mix until thick and frothy consistency with stiff peaks are formed.
🌀 Mixing Pro Tip
The cheese foam is ready once you lift the mixer and notice Peaks Formed in the mixture. This visual cue indicates the perfect consistency for achieving a smooth and creamy foam texture.
Step 2 Brew your favorite oolong, jasmine, or black tea and mix in sweetener, ice and half n half. Spoon the matcha milk foam mixture on top and serve.
🍵 Steeping Pro Tip
Avoid oversteeping the tea to prevent a bitter taste caused by excessive tannins. The recommended times are 3 minutes for Green and Jasmine Tea, 4 minutes for Oolong Tea, and 5 minutes for Black Tea.
🥤 Serving Pro Tip
Sip the tea and savor the foam Without Mixing them together. By doing so, you’ll fully appreciate the delightful layers of flavor in every sip.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use store-bought milk tea for this recipe, or is it better to make it from scratch?
While you certainly can use store-bought milk tea for this recipe, I highly recommend making it from scratch. Crafting your own milk tea allows you to have full control over the sweetness level, ensuring it perfectly suits your taste preferences. Additionally, preparing the milk tea yourself guarantees that you're enjoying a drink free from additives.
Can I prepare the matcha cream cheese foam ahead of time and store it separately from the milk tea?
Yes, absolutely! The matcha cream cheese foam can be prepared ahead of time and stored separately from the milk tea. In fact, it's a convenient option that I highly recommend for those looking to enjoy this drink even quicker. Simply store the foam in an airtight container in the refrigerator, where it will maintain its freshness and creamy consistency for 5-7 days.
Storage Tips
Once you’ve added the foam to the drink, it’s best to enjoy it right away. However, if you have any leftover matcha cream cheese foam, you can store it by placing it in an airtight container or wrapping it in plastic wrap. This will keep it fresh in the fridge for 5-7 days.
