Why I Love This Recipe

My Iced Matcha Latte recipe is a delightful Japanese-inspired beverage that I absolutely love because it beautifully highlights the vibrant flavors of real authentic matcha, a finely ground powder made from green tea leaves! This easy-to-make drink is ideal for those looking for a quick and rejuvenating option. It boasts a balance of earthy and sweet notes especially topped with my Matcha Whipped Cream, making it a treat for matcha enthusiasts and newcomers alike. Just like my Matcha Creme Frappuccino and Strawberry Matcha Latte, I make sure to use authentic matcha powder, ensuring you experience the genuine taste of matcha in every sip!

Whether you’re seeking a caffeine boost or a moment of relaxation, this recipe is perfect for both matcha lovers and those eager to explore this flavorful trend in Asian cuisine. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to savor the goodness of an authentic matcha drink!

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • Matcha Powder – green tea leaves that have been ground into a powder. Culinary grade Matcha Powder will work for this recipe but you can also use ceremonial grade premium matcha if preferred.
  • Sweetener – use your preferred sweetener.
  • Hot Water – roughly 175F or 80C, the ideal temperature for whisking matcha.
  • Ice – standard ice cubes.
  • Milk – can also use your choice of milk or milk alternative. Coconut Milk, Almond Milk, soy milk, oat milk etc.

Flavor Add Ins

Strawberry Syrup, Vanilla Extract, and Simple Syrup open up a world of flavor variations, giving you the freedom to experiment and find your preferred taste.

🍵 Matcha Note

Since the color isn’t a significant factor in this recipe, use Culinary Grade Matcha, offering the same great taste at a more affordable price point compared to ceremonial matcha.

Recipe Variations

For a comforting twist on the classic iced matcha latte, consider skipping the ice and indulging in the warmth of a Hot Matcha Latte, a perfect companion for chilly days. Or level of your drink to a cafe style beverage by adding my Sea Salt Cream or my rich Cheese Foam Cap that goes perfect with this iced matcha latte!

Paring Recommendations

Consider serving with a delightful Matcha Basque Burnt Cheesecake or indulging in the richness of Matcha Chocolate Macadamia Nuts. The creamy and slightly bitter notes of matcha in your latte will beautifully balance the sweetness of these dessert options.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use tea bags instead of matcha powder?

No, using tea bags instead of matcha powder is not recommended. The taste is not the same, and tea bags won't produce the strong and distinctive flavor that matcha powder provides.

Can I make this Iced Matcha Latte with a dairy-free milk alternative?

Yes, absolutely! Whether you prefer almond milk, soy milk, oat milk, or any other non-dairy option, feel free to use it in this recipe to suit your dietary preferences.

What's the difference between culinary grade and ceremonial grade matcha?

Culinary grade matcha is typically used for cooking and baking, as it has a slightly bitter taste and is less vibrant in color compared to ceremonial grade matcha. On the other hand, ceremonial grade matcha is the highest quality and is intended for drinking as a tea. It has a smoother, milder flavor and a vibrant green hue.

Are there any health benefits associated with drinking matcha?

Certainly! Matcha is brimming with health benefits. It's loaded with antioxidants, offers a mild caffeine boost, contains chlorophyll for detoxification, and has L-theanine for relaxation. My Iced Matcha Latte is a tasty way to enjoy these advantages!

  1. This one is my fave because it’s simple, tasty, but not heavy. Lots of others are tasty, but high cal and dessert like. Thanks!
