🥩 Steak Note

If Slicing to Wafer Steaks from a Roast, consider placing them in the Freezer for 20-30 Minutes until they are Semi-Frozen. This technique allows for cleaner and more accurate cuts, ensuring uniformity in your steak slices.

Essential Kitchen Equipment

Directions

☑ Before Getting Started

Before getting started, ensure you have a Large Frying Pan with a Flat Bottom, preferably a Cast Iron Skillet. This will provide ample room for your steaks to sear evenly, resulting in a delicious crust and juicy interior.

Step 1 Pat dry steak as needed. Season with salt and black pepper.Steak seasoned.

🧂 Seasoning Pro Tip

For even seasoning, try Sprinkling from a Higher Above. Allow the steak to Rest for 20-30 Minutes after seasoning. This time will enable the steak to absorb the seasoning and reach an even temperature, ensuring a perfectly cooked steak.

Step 2 Prepare sauce by combining chopped onions, ginger, rice vinegar, soy sauce, sweetener, lemon juice, and zest into a food processor. Blend for 20-30 seconds.

🍲 Sauce Pro Tip

For optimal flavor development, Prepare in Advance and Refrigerate it. Allowing the sauce to rest in the fridge will enhance its flavors.

Step 3 Melt butter in a microwave-safe bowl for 20-30 seconds. Stir in grated garlic and set aside.

Step 4 Heat cooking oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat until it’s preheats. Then, add the steak and cook for 20-30 seconds per side for Medium-Rare, 30-40 seconds per side for Medium, 40-50 seconds per side for Medium-Well, and 50+ seconds per side for Well-Done. After flipping, add in garlic butter and continue to cook until preferred doneness.

🌡 Internal Temperature Check

For an accurate internal temperature check, aim for 125°F for Medium-Rare, 130°F for Medium, and 135°F for Medium-Well. Using a meat thermometer ensures precise cooking and allows you to achieve your desired level of doneness with perfection.

Step 5 Slice the steak into cubes after resting and serve with prepared ginger sauce.

🥩 Steak Pro Tip

For best results, allow the steak to Rest for 5 Minutes after cooking to let the juices redistribute before slicing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a different type of steak for this recipe?

Absolutely! While NY fillets work great for this recipe, you can also opt for other cuts like rib eye or top sirloin.

Can I make the ginger sauce ahead of time?

Yes, you can definitely make the ginger sauce ahead of time. In fact, I highly recommend preparing it in advance to allow the flavors to develop and mature.

What should I do if my steak is too thick or too thin?

If your steak is thicker or thinner than the recommended 1/2 inch, simply adjust the cooking times accordingly. Thinner steaks will require shorter cooking times, while thicker ones will need longer.

How can I ensure my steak stays juicy and tender?

Avoid overcooking your steaks. Cook the steak to your desired level of doneness, whether it's medium-rare or medium, and then let it rest for a few minutes before slicing. This resting period allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, resulting in a more tender and flavorful steak.

Storage Tips

To store leftovers, place them in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 5-7 days.
