Ingredients
- 1 Whole Avocado – fresh ripped and de-pitted avocado.

- 2 Stalks Green Onion – freshly chopped scallions.
- 1 tsp Toasted Sesame Oil – 100% Toasted Sesame Oil that should have a dark brown color.
- 1 tsp Soy Sauce – low-sodium Soy Sauce preferred. Can also use tamari for gluten-free.

- 1/2 tsp Togarashi (red pepper) – Togarashi Japanese chili pepper blend found in most Asian or Japanese supermarkets. A good alternative would be cayenne pepper or red pepper.
- 1 tsp Sriracha – Asian style chill sauce.

🥑 Avocado Ripening Pro Tip
For a quick ripening of your avocado, pop it in a Paper Bag alongside a Banana or Apple. These fruits release ethylene gas, expediting the ripening process.
🍣 Tuna Note
We recommend using frozen sashimi-grade tuna blocks, often called Saku Blocks. These are typically from Yellowfin Tuna, which is leaner and less fatty than Bluefin tuna, making it the ideal choice for creating a spicy tuna mix in this recipe.
Directions
Step 1 Start with combining the spicy tuna mix. Mix together minced yellowfin tuna, chopped green onions, toasted sesame oil, soy sauce, mayo, red pepper, and sriracha.
🌀 Mincing Tuna Pro Tip
You can use a Food Processor to Mince the tuna. However, exercise caution and avoid over-blending the tuna as you still want texture in the mix.
Step 2 Next, de-pit an avocado, and place the spicy mixture inside. To enjoy, use a spoon to scrap up pieces of avocado along with spicy tuna mix.
🍽️ Alternate Serving Method
An alternate serving method is to remove the avocado from the shell, Cut Into Chunks, and Mix with the Spicy Tuna Mix.
Recipe Variations
For a delightful variation, swap out the spicy tuna mix with a flavorful canned crab mix to create my Avocado Stuffed Crab Bowl.
Pairing Recommendations
While this recipe is satisfying as a standalone dish, you can elevate your meal by pairing it with a bowl of Tofu Miso Soup for a complete sushi-style meal.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use canned tuna instead of fresh tuna for this recipe?
For this recipe, only fresh tuna is recommended. If you're considering using canned tuna instead, I suggest checking out my Tuna Salad Avocado Bowl recipe, which is specifically designed for canned tuna.
How spicy is the spicy tuna mix? Can I adjust the level of spiciness?
The spicy tuna mix in this recipe has a moderate level of spiciness, around a 4 out of 10 on the heat scale. If you prefer a milder flavor, you can adjust the spiciness by reducing the amount of Sriracha and red pepper flakes used in the mix.
How do I know if an avocado is ripe enough to use for this recipe?
To determine if an avocado is ripe enough for this recipe, gently press on the skin with your fingertips. A ripe avocado should yield slightly to pressure but still feel firm and not overly soft or mushy.
Storage Tips
For optimal freshness, it’s best to enjoy this dish immediately. However, if you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container. Doing so will help preserve the flavors and textures for up to a day or two before oxidization starts to occur.
