Black Pepper Seared Beef

Ingredients

Steak

  • 2 Top Sirloin Steaks about 8-10oz per piece
  • 1/3 Cup Red Bell Pepper sliced
  • 1/4 Cup Onion sliced
  • 1 tbsp Cooking Oil neutral, no flavor or taste
  • 1/8 tsp Salt
  • 1/8 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1/4 tsp Toasted Sesame Seeds optional

Sauce

  • 3 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Oyster Sauce
  • 1 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Sweetener your preferred sweetener
  • 2 tbsp Chicken Broth

Instructions

  • Gather all the ingredients.

  • Lightly season top sirloin steak with salt and black pepper and set aside.

  • Slice red bell pepper and onions and set aside.

  • In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, oyster sauce, black pepper, garlic powder, sweetener, and chicken broth.

  • In a large skillet or wok, add 1 tbsp of neutral cooking oil and bring up to temp on high heat. Once up to temp add sliced onions and red bell peppers. Cook until tender to liking, around 2-4 minutes. Transfer to a holding bowl once done.

  • In a cast iron pan or large skillet, add 1 tbsp of cooking oil and bring up to temp. Add in top sirloin steaks and sear for 1.5 minutes per side for medium rare and 2 minutes per side for medium. Note - time will vary depending on thickness.

  • Add back the cooked vegetables and pour the black pepper sauce over steak. Cook and mix for 10-15 seconds and transfer to a serving plate. Top with optional toasted sesame seeds.
